Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)

This has got to be my all-time favourite movie - and an absolute must-watch.

Set against the stunning backdrop of New Zealand’s breathtaking landscapes, "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" is a heartwarming adventure that blends humor and emotion.

The film follows Ricky Baker (Julian Denison), a rebellious foster child and his grumpy guardian, "Uncle Hec" (Sam Neil), as they go on the run in the wild after a series of misadventures.

Director Taika Waititi masterfully combines comedy and drama, making this film a delightful exploration of family, belonging, and the great outdoors, all while delivering laugh-out-loud moments.

Next Goal Wins (2023)

"Next Goal Wins" is an inspiring sports comedy based on the true story of the American Samoa national soccer team, known for their infamous 31-0 loss in a World Cup qualifier.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the film follows the journey of Dutch coach Thomas Rongen as he attempts to turn the underdog team into contenders.

Set in the picturesque islands of the Pacific, it captures the spirit of resilience and camaraderie among the players.

With much of the cast similar to that of Hunt for the Wilderpeople's, this film celebrates the power of teamwork and the joy of pursuing dreams - no matter the odds.

Moana (2016)

You might be more familiar with this one. Disney's "Moana" is a vibrant animated film that takes viewers on an enchanting journey across the Pacific Ocean.

Set on the fictional island of Motunui, which draws inspiration from the islands of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

It tells the tale of a spirited young girl, Moana, who sets sail to save her island and restore the heart of Te Fiti.

With stunning visuals and catchy songs, the film beautifully showcases Polynesian culture and mythology.

Moana's adventure is not just about navigating the seas but also about self-discovery and courage.

The film's themes of empowerment and environmental stewardship resonate with audiences of all ages, making it a beloved classic that celebrates the spirit of exploration and heritage.

If you like Moana, you can watch the second movie... Moana 2.

Midway (2019)

"Midway" is a war film directed by Roland Emmerich, depicting the pivotal naval battle between the United States and Japan during World War II.

The film is based on real events that occurred in June 1942, following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

It focuses on the strategic decisions, heroic actions and sacrifices made by American forces.

The ensemble cast includes Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, and Woody Harrelson.

With impressive visual effects and intense aerial combat sequences, "Midway" aims to honor the bravery of those who fought and changed the course of history.
